why these tricks may not work in a mental health crisis
if you’re in crisis, you don’t need hacks, you need help. here’s what that looked like for me.
before i share anything about what helped me, i want to be clear: none of this would have worked if i hadn’t first gotten to a baseline of stability. for me, that meant finding the right medication and sticking with it long enough to actually feel steady. in this episode i talk about titrating medication.
to titrate means adjusting your dose slowly—either up or down—until you reach the right level. with many mental health meds, though, you don’t feel the full effect right away. it usually takes a couple weeks of steady use for the medication to build up to a threshold in your system, which is why patience and consistency matter so much in the beginning.
and to those who have given me encouragement this early on, i could not be more grateful for you.
i’m also so grateful that the crisis text line exists now. i wish my younger self could have just texted HOME to 741741—it could have changed everything. 🙏
